Meta Transit: Optimizing Boston Train Travel Experience

Client: Meta – Mockup Design for Transit Experience Optimization

This project focused on designing a forward-thinking mockup application aimed at improving the efficiency and usability of public transit systems, specifically targeting train travel in the Boston area. The goal was to explore how digital tools can enhance wait times, optimize capacity, and provide better travel options through a more intuitive and responsive user experience.

The primary challenge was translating complex transit data, such as real-time train capacity, arrival intervals, and route efficiency, into a clean and accessible interface that supports quick decision-making. The design needed to balance dense information with clarity, ensuring users can easily understand when to travel, which trains to take, and how to navigate peak congestion periods without cognitive overload.

Key design strategies included:
Clear data visualization to communicate wait times, capacity levels, and travel options at a glance
Modular interface design to allow users to quickly scan and compare transit routes
Strong typographic hierarchy to distinguish real-time updates, alerts, and recommendations
Intuitive interaction flows that reduce friction in planning and adjusting travel decisions
Consistent layout and visual structure to support usability in fast-paced, real-world scenarios

The mockup emphasizes a streamlined and responsive user experience that prioritizes efficiency, accessibility, and clarity. The design reframes transit planning as a proactive, user-centered process, helping commuters make more informed decisions while reducing uncertainty and congestion.

Through this project, I strengthened my ability to design data-driven interfaces, simplify complex systems into usable digital products, and create scalable design solutions for real-world infrastructure challenges.
